Bilateral relations Switzerland–Honduras
Switzerland and Honduras maintain good relations. Switzerland is active in development cooperation and humanitarian aid in the country through various SDC projects.
There are few economic exchanges. In the 1990s, Switzerland participated in multilateral debt relief programmes for Honduras.
In 2015, Switzerland imported CHF 23.05 million in goods from Honduras, mainly agricultural products. Exports to Honduras amounted to CHF 12.96 million in 2015. Switzerland mainly exports machinery, pharmaceutical products and beauty products to Honduras.

A number of bans and restrictions need to be taken into account when importing goods. Registration or authorisation from the competent authorities is required before import for some groups of goods.
Authorisation and/or licensing by the Secretariá de Salud (Ministry of Health) is required for goods including medicines, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and foods. Authorisation from the agricultural health authorities is also required for animals and animal products, plants and plant products. There is a ban on the import of vehicles (older than 10-13 years depending on the type) and goods containing fluorinated hydrocarbons.

Terms of payment and tenders
If a letter of credit cannot be achieved then request documents against payment. Invoicing predominantly in USD and in some cases also in EUR. Where possible tenders should be in Spanish in USD FOB and CIF with the corresponding technical information.
State export guarantees for Swiss exports only up to credit terms of less than 360 days.
Designations of origin
The indication of the country of origin on the commercial invoices on goods is not required. Standard labelling is sufficient.
The sender, recipient, country of origin, name, numbering and gross weight should appear on each package. There are special regulations on the labelling of medicinal products and foods.
Seaworthy packaging. Used sacks and packaging materials that are suspected to be infected are prohibited. No boxes over 60 kg if possible. Standard markings on the packages, gross and net weight on 2 sides in letters of at least 6 cm.
Use ISPM no. 15.
A security totalling the import duties is required for commercial samples with a retail value.

Declaration of origin on the invoice
– for each exporter up to a value of EUR 6.000
– “authorised exporters” – no limit
Wording of the declaration of origin: “The exporter of the products covered by this document (customs authorization No …) (1) declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of … (2) preferential origin”. If the declaration on the invoice is made by an authorised exporter, the permit number of the authorised exporter should be entered under (1). If the declaration on the invoice is not made by an authorised exporter, the words in brackets can be left out or the gap left empty. (2) The origin of the products must be indicated. If the statement on the invoice relates in full or in part to products originating in Ceuta and Melilla, the exporter must make the short description “CM” clearly visible.
c) Certificates of origin only on request.
d) Bills of lading in Spanish; order bills of lading are permitted – notify address required. When shipping via the Pacific only San Lorenzo can be used as a port of arrival.
e) Postal packages up to 20 kg: 1 international dispatch note, 2 customs declarations in Spanish.
